How Remote Vegas checks work spots
Remote Vegas lists 105 places to work on a laptop in Las Vegas. Every work fact on a listing comes with its source, listings show the date they were last verified, and a list page only exists when there are enough checked spots to make it useful. This page explains how, with numbers computed from the live data.

Where spots come from
Spots are curated by Gavin, the local behind Remote Vegas, from his own laptop days and from public, citable sources. The most-cited sources across the 105 listings:
- @workfromvegas: 50 spots
- Gavin: 9 spots
- StudyNearMe: 8 spots
- Eater Vegas: 8 spots
- Atly: 6 spots
- Review-Journal: 5 spots
- Las Vegas Weekly: 5 spots
- @cafehoppingjess: 3 spots
Each listing links its source and citations under “Sources”. Listings marked “Gavin’s pick” (14 today) are places Gavin works from himself.
What counts as a checked work fact
Wi-Fi, outlets, noise, laptop policy, calls and how long you can stay are recorded only with evidence: a quote and where it came from. 78 of 105 spots have at least one such fact. Evidence by source:
- Remote Vegas notes: 91 facts
- @workfromvegas: 67 facts
- Remote Vegas visit log: 7 facts
- Best time: 2 facts
- Wi-Fi “confirmed” means a cited note says there is Wi-Fi on site. We only show a speed when we measured it (3 speed tests so far); we never estimate Mbps.
- Top-rated Wi-Fi means @workfromvegas rated it 8/10 or higher, or we measured 50 Mbps down or more. It is not a “fastest” ranking.
- Open late comes from posted hours: open until 9pm or later at least 4 days a week. If the hours text can’t be read with certainty, we make no claim.
- Quotes from @workfromvegas are credited to them and are not Remote Vegas ratings.
- Work facts never come from Yelp or Google reviews or ratings. Yelp and Google Maps appear only as outbound links.
Locations, areas and landmarks
Coordinates: Remote Vegas (97), US Census Geocoder (4), OpenStreetMap (1). Areas and landmark pages are computed from those coordinates. Landmark pages list every spot within a stated distance, measured as a straight line: the Las Vegas Strip (1.5 miles of the resorts, Sphere and Fashion Show), the Las Vegas Convention Center (2 miles) and Harry Reid Airport (3 miles), using Wikipedia’s coordinates for each landmark. “Near” pages (/near) rank the closest spots to a landmark within 3 miles in a straight line, up to 12, and show each distance; one is published only if it passes the same rules as every list page and isn’t a near-copy of an area page.
How often spots are verified
Every listing shows a “Last verified” date. Today 103 of 105 listings carry one, from Oct 15, 2026 to Oct 18, 2026. There is no fixed re-check schedule yet, so that date is the honest answer to “how fresh is this?”. All pages are regenerated from the spot database on every site build, so the counts and dates on list pages always match the listings.
Photos and community input
Photos and videos come from the Remote Vegas community and are reviewed before they appear, or are openly licensed photos credited to their author with their license. Where we have none yet, a card can show a photo loaded live from Google Maps, attributed to Google Maps and its author; those are never stored. Check-ins and suggested spots are moderated before they change anything.
Which list pages we publish
A list page (a category, area, landmark, “best for” page or an area-by-need page) is published only if it has at least 3 spots (2 for an area-by-need page), more than 50% of its spots have a checked work fact, and it shares less than 80% of its spots with any other page. Near-duplicates merge into the broader page with a permanent redirect. Today 144 list pages pass and 115 candidates are held back.
